The work of the 48th session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission has begun

November 10, 2025, the 48th session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (hereinafter - the Commission) started. The Kazakh delegation is represented by the Head of the delegation, Chairman of the Board of the RSE na PHB "National Center of Expertise" CSEC of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kiyasov E.A., as well as delegates: The national coordinator of the Codex Alimentarius structure of the Republic of Kazakhstan is N.M. Karsybekova, the Codex contact person is J.T. Tolysbaeva, the national expert is Professor G.S. Konuspaeva.

Welcoming remarks were made by Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO UN) Qu Dongyu, Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, as well as Chairman of the Commission Allan Azegele. The main message was the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the framework of food security and food safety, the importance of developing, using and improving the Codex standards, as well as expanding multilateral cooperation.

On the first day, the report of the 88th and 89th sessions of the Codex Executive Committee of the Commission were discussed.

On the eve of the 48th session, the Kazakh delegation also participated in the pre-session of the FAO/WHO Coordination Committee for Europe, where key issues of the Commission's agenda were discussed, including new work on the development of a camel milk standard, where Kazakhstan participates in preparatory work.

It’s noted that the "Kazakhstan" room, decorated in the form of a shanyrak, combining traditional ornaments and modern decoration of the hall, has been opened in the FAO building.
